Fashion – Washington, D.C.

I started designing scarves in January 2011 and I haven't stopped since. My scarves can be worn in many different ways (around the neck, as a tunic/top, worn as a cowl, shawl, hood, and my newest is a scarf-cape hybrid with pockets). My designs are ever evolving. My love of art, nature, high fashion, music and different cultures influence my designs. I’ve always been drawn to contradictions especially in fashion – clean lines crisp Ralph Lauren-esq sophisticated looks and then I’m also drawn to the bold colors and freedom of fashion that represents the rebellious 60s and 70s. I like to think that my designs have a hint of both. I’m hoping to bring a sense of luxury to street wear, as well as bringing a sense of street wear to luxury. My designs are flexible. I like the idea of bringing approachability to the fashion world. I want to support and be a part of a movement where we influence women to feel beautiful at any age and that imperfections make us uniquely gorgeous (inside and out). My designs symbolize this concept. They may have imperfections but it doesn’t matter because overall you can’t help but be drawn to their unique beauty. http://www.facebook.com/jemcollection www.jemcollection.com
