Laurel Stewart (Tiny Dirge)

I am Laurel Stewart, an abstract painter focusing on intuition, process, and color. Being a dancer has a huge influence in my paintings as my process is often performative and is a reflection of movement and music. I never expected nor intended to become an artist, I even tried fashion school, then moving to Maine from my native New Jersey. Now, I am a proud student at the Maryland Institute College of Art and couldn’t love where I am more. Baltimore has taught me so much about what kind of artist I am and what art can do for a community. I hope to help build bridges through community arts and keep making art that makes people feel good!
