Tyree Hodo

Son of Thelma Hodo and Willie Joe Pollard, Tyree Hodo was born in Lanier Hospital in Valley, Alabama on July 15, 1990. He grew up in the small town of West Point, Georgia, where he lived until he went to college. Since the age of six, Tyree has always drawn for fun. While growing up, he was repeatedly encouraged by his art teachers. When he met his high school art teacher, Rena Reynolds-Weatherington, he rapidly began developing his art skills to a higher skill level with her help. She became a major influence in his development as an artist. She introduced him to many different artists such as Charles White, Kathe Kollwitz, Vincent van Gogh, and her personal favorite Albrecht Durer. Motivation not only came from his art teacher, but also from his competitive spirit. Tyree graduated high school in May of 2008. He was inspired to pursue a career in art by his high school art teacher, and he chose to enroll in Kennesaw State University the following fall. Currently a student at Kennesaw State University; Tyree is in his fifth year of college expecting to graduate in the fall of 2014 with a degree in Art with a concentration in Drawing/Painting and a degree in Art Education. Tyree’s style of drawing and painting is usually realistic, or naturalistic, but sometimes he merges these styles with slight abstraction. He plans to make a living with his art and teaching other young artists to meet their potential.
