Alpa Patel has specialized in creating a line of custom-fabricated, handmade jewelry pieces. While since forming close relationships with emerging clothing designers, collaborating in joint parades such as the East African based Swahili Fashion Week, Alpa has stayed true to her core ideal of designing for the true jewelry fanatic; someone who prizes individuality of style before anything else. She designs contemplative of the space around where a woman wears her jewellery and the symbiotic relationship between the female species and its adornments and continuously seeks to master the alchemical science of jewellery making with a nod to old things and old ways of doing. Alpa Patel incorporates a subtle blend of old-couture and new mixing enduring vintage components which were originally manufactured in very small quantities from the highest grade materials with premium modern materials making each piece inimitably stylish. Alpa designs for the strong, modern woman who has an appreciation of the past and history of the fine materials of yesteryear, now nigh on impossible to regularly source, except by travel and intense and concentrated hunting. Antiquated components often resurface in the third world under piles of unsold products, gathering dust and seemingly forgotten. With a design philosophy unlike any other, Alpa locates and reinvigorates each piece, combining it with modern, limited production components, generating a profound sense of the union of old and new.
