Visual Art – Memphis
Yancy was born in Mexico City and has lived in Memphis for almost 20 years. She has also lived and traveled in Latin America, Africa, and Europe.
The freedom of spirit from painting with acrylic, an experience that she accidentally discovered while in college, changed the course of her life. After experiencing health issues, she developed a passion to portray the beauty on the simple things that matter in life. Color saturation, wood surfaces, vivid acrylic tones, and anonymous images create an effect that captures a moment, and allows you to imagine and conclude. The use of rich, vivid colors naturally emerges from her Latino background and the combination of gold and dark browns from her intense experiences in Africa. Being an immigrant has allow her to appreciate the passion of her culture and the richness of her home town using the rich fusion to express and create.
