An emerging artist from New York City just trying to live life with art The artist, Yanne Bree was born in Cagayan de Oro, (the City of Gold) Philippines. As a young child, Yanne had shown interest in the arts but growing up in a third world country, several factors halted her pursuit. Yanne’s father had negative attitude toward her art and demand that she stopped. Her father claimed anything artistic doesn’t have any earning potential, and noted that most artist struggle Yanne continued her pursuit teaching herself to draw and paint. Working in secret, hiding her works from her father. Unbeknownst to him, Yanne joined and won many poster making/ mural painting contests. At the age of 16, she auditioned and got admitted to a prestigious art club, “Circulo de Arte” in her hometown. Two of her paintings were chosen to be part of an art show featuring local artists in the city museum.     Yanne family moved to the states in search of a better life. Moving to the rural town of Port Saint Lucie, Florida.  At the age of 19, she had begun a hiatus from the art world for several years. Until one day in 2015, Yanne reignited her passion and desire to paint, remembering her long lost love for the arts and painting. This lead to a gallery entry featuring female artists at the show called “Backstage: Studies of Solitude.” (The Rock Wall Studios Gallery in Queens, New York, May 2016) From that art show, Yanne has landed commissioned paintings and sold original works of art while also working as a full time waitress. Today, Yanne recalls her journey as an artist, the struggles she faced and the happiness she feels continuing to do something she loves.   Media:             Yanne uses mix media acrylic, watercolor, pen, markers and all other types of art supplies blended with non-conventional techniques. Yanne is currently experimenting with other forms of techniques which she hopes to unveil in the near future. Influence and style: Yanne is inspired by the famous artists, Picasso and Van Gogh. Her style is painterly with heavy handed brush strokes, giving the canvas and all over painted appeal where the initial work is painted and line work is added to bring the image to life with vibrant and Avant-garde visual appeal. Using the line work to emphasize the image providing movement and giving the image direction, with the occasional dead shape to break it up.
