Visual Art – Adelaide

“My biggest aspiration and art dream is to learn as much and grow as an artist and not let any day pass that I'm not working harder to push the boundaries of my techniques and pushing the boundaries of mental concept matter within my paintings. I want to continue to reach new and engaging levels of expression” Of Country South Australian origin, I have always had a deep affinity and passion for the Arts. As a young seven year old, I began exploring my talents and love for music, a love with which I continue to indulge, typically between the juxtaposition of classical and heavy metal music. It was after this that I discovered my urge to draw and paint, for this provided yet another outlet for my intrigued and visual mind. Growing up in the seaside country town of Port Lincoln, I have been exposed to both the beautiful countryside and oceanic views. The outdoors became a safe haven for me, and would be a place where I would spend countless hours exploring the beautiful landscapes. These experiences allowed me to notice the subtle nuances and intricacies that others would simply pass by. At the Age of 23, I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome (part of the Autism Spectrum Disorder family). Through this diagnosis, I have been able to better understand my mind and work to find strategies to keep my mind focussed and motivated to achieve any task I set my mind to. My artistic skills are mainly self-taught, and has taken much hard work and long term dedication to improve my craft. I like to think that this dedication has translated into every Artform I experiment with. My biggest art influences are Francis Bacon, Max Ernst, H.R. Ginger, Jackson Pollack, Monte, Van Gogh, Alan Lee, John Howe Music is also a huge, if not bigger, influence on my art work. Listening to music evokes an emotion that I try to capture in my paintings and the biggest musical influence and pretty much the only band I listen to while painting is Pink Floyd. Like the ocean, their music can be calm and at the drop of a hat be like the raging storm. I have also been heavily influenced by my art teacher Malcolm. I am forever grateful to Malcolm who pushed me into trying different styles and techniques of Art, some of which I never expected or imagined I would explore.
