Visual Art – Nashville

Late in life I realized it was now or never that I follow my dream of becoming an artist. Although scary, I put behind a successful career as a medical editor covering cancer drugs to pursue my passion of creating art. Completely self-taught, gourd masks guided my path to become the focus of my art. It is very satisfying to make art from nature's discards using he lowly gourd as a canvas to create my unusual and often intricately designs. The masks , each an original, are created by my own hand as I carefully woodburn, engrave, sew and embellish each with natural materials such as pods, beads, sticks, feathers, horsehair, seagrass and pine needles.
