Visual Art – Detroit

I had previously dabbled with painting on occasion before I started painting daily and began identifying myself as an artist. I’d taken an art class in high school, several Art History courses in college, but it wasn’t until I was in Grad School where I began to consistently paint to relieve my stress from writing my dissertation. I mostly did floral and space themed watercolors for about a year and a half until I tried oil and acrylic paint. That’s when I learned that I loved working with all sorts of colors and experimenting with color mixing - just enjoying the process. I really loved painting with watercolors, but for me, taking a blank canvas and making meaning out of it with just colors is thrilling to me. Since I discovered my passion to create, I haven't stopped painting! I like to make things and leave people guessing as to how I achieved certain styles and techniques. I never stop creating since I picked up a paintbrush- in the last two years I think my style has evolved as I learn more and more about being an artist.
