Barret Bumford

Photography – San Diego

Raised by sea lions on the southern california coast, Barret parted ways with Zalophus californianus after realizing he was more like a pelican: awkward, yet graceful. Realizing that his forelimbs were clearly prehensile and he couldn't get any air, Barret swam to shore and attempted to integrate into people society. This ongoing, painful, and perhaps quixotic process is made bearable with the distraction of photography.
