Boyd Smith

Concord, N.C. native, Boyd Smith, received his B.F.A. at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Creating an edgy and eclectic space for artists and art-lovers alike, Smith founded Boydz Afficher Gallery in 2010. Smith recently relocated to West Lafayette, I.N. to pursue a M.F.A. at Purdue University. Noted for its vibrant colors in the form of organic shapes symbolizing life, energy, and human skin tones, Smith’s work illustrates the connections to and within the human race. Using both acrylic and oil for textural complexity, Smith’s paintings erase the black/white dichotomy to encourage vibrancy and multiplicity instead.
