Photography – Sydney

I studied Cert IV Photography at Sydney TAFE last year and had no inkling what my style of photography was. I currently work for a wonderful family portrait studio, learning the ropes of this particular style. Which is great, but as the months wore on this year, I felt despair. Photography is an industry filled with competition, I wanted to do weddings, but can\'t, as I wasn\'t deemed experienced enough, I wanted to do fashion photography, but there\'s not enough work at the moment. I\'m also an artist so I sketched whenever I could. So it was as recent as last month, that I stumbled across Brooke Shaden\'s work and videos that I decided I\'d try and do a levitating image and create a story out of it. I did. I fell in love with this medium straightaway and couldn\'t stop. I was skimming through images on pinterest, everywhere, books, ideas and inspiration would filter my brain in the shower even ! I ended up creating a self portrait series, showing all aspects of myself. I wanted to bring the surreal, the impossible into reality. I wanted to create atmosphere. To make people feel, think and smile. The post process is often filled with tears, laughter, frustration and utmost joy. I am learning as an artist and enjoying this journey. This is what I LOVE about conceptual photography, it\'s my story telling, utilising my artistic talent through photoshop, that I am able to bring stories to life !
