Gabriela Perez

An essential part of my life, I’ve been immersed in the creative realm of the arts since I was a young child. I come from a multi-cultural background being of Hispanic and Creole descent, and find that my mix allows me to both relate to many whilst still retaining my uniqueness. I was born and raised in the culturally rich city of New Orleans, Louisiana and have lived in the electric city of Miami for the past 12 years. My path in art is far from ordinary and I love that. Being the true Gemini that I am, I once had a hard time deciding on what I wanted to pursue career wise. I have an insatiable appetite for both art and science. Once I realized that I didn’t have to choose one path over the other, I’ve made it my goal to prove to myself and to others that fulfilling all of your passions, no matter how mutually exclusive they may seem, is definitely possible. Here I am now, pursuing both a career in art and in medicine. Both areas of my life are constantly inspiring and bettering each other and inspiring me as a whole. I hope to use medicine as a means of inspiration for my artistic process as well as my work. I draw on what I have learned in art to enhance my creative thinking in science and medicine. I hope my work will truly inspire others to fulfill all of their greatest passions.
