Visual Art – Las Vegas

Christine Han is an artist currently residing in Las Vegas. She grew up in Las Vegas and attended the Las Vegas Academy as a Visual Design major, then studied Cultural Anthropology at Reed College. She lived in Seoul, South Korea for a year, painting at an art studio. Her interests in western and eastern art is combined in her use of materials and subjects. She enjoys painting on hanji, a traditional Korean handmade paper, with oils. She paints versions of portraits in a surrealistic, dreamlike scene with a single figure whose eyes have been obscured in some manner. Though with each painting there are several reasons, the overarching one is her interest in connecting with a viewer and conveying a message through body language and features other than the eyes, a part commonly associated with communication. She uses a series of pastel colors, often softening the strangeness of the subject matter.
