Visual Art – Orange County

My name is Garrick Clark. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of California – Orange County. I have lived in Costa Mesa for 15 years. Before that, I was brought up in the mid west. I have a love for nature and skateboarding culture. In my latest work, I get to combine them both. These works are a reflection on nature in suburbs of Orange County, California. The materials used represent both nature and the urban elements of Orange County. The subjects are usually of wildlife you find living in the area. I use a mix of leathers, wood stain, and outlines using a wood-burning tool. The complete compositions are hand crafted on blank skateboard decks. The style is raw, the defects in the wood and exposed wood screws aid in the urban feel of the work while the natural wood and stain colors are that of a natural feel. I hope you enjoy my work.
