Hell On Heels Couture
Fashion – Phoenix
I started making clothing in 1998 after never being able to find clothes that fit right, or have enough flair, wrong fabrics, etc.. I decided to make my own clothes! I bought a sewing machine and fabric and stayed up all night making halter tops and purses using the trial & error method.
I started selling clothes at raves and had a few store fronts inside a techno venue, upstairs of a record store and upstairs of a tattoo shop. A few dancer friends asked me to make them outfits, something that would stand out on stage.. soon I started selling dancer clothes in the dressing rooms of clubs all across Central Texas (oh the stories) to a few local boutiques and online. The demand for such modern dancer outfits led me to open my own store which had more room and my own sweatshop in the back.
I started skating in ALL-GIRL roller derby so naturally moving forward with progression of this growing counter culture I started incorporating some of the iconic roller girl images in my designs.
I started making outfits for local performers, swimming mermaids, fire-dancers, burlesque dancers, & my GO GO troupe. I have designed and made several uniforms for roller derby teams nationally. I am involved with 1st & 3rd Friday art walks, tattoo conventions, local shows, online, and at ALL-GIRL roller derby bouts.
I make custom clothes for performance and photo shoots. I never use a pattern..Im not into instructions. In addition to making clothing and accessories from scratch, I love modification! Turning trash into art, turning bullets into butterflies.
