Visual Art – Minneapolis

My first and greatest inspiration was a toy kaleidoscope that I looked through constantly, and would be enthralled by all of the colors, shapes, and patterns that appeared when it turned. After I looked through the kaleidoscope, I tried to draw the intricate patterns that I saw and have worked to perfect them to the day and develop a sense of my own style. Not only were kaleidoscopes and patterns influential on my paintings and drawings, but also nature had always been important in my designs. Nature has especially influenced my creativity and imagination, with flowers as the most prominent. I found the different stages of growth to be very inspiring, from the first bud of life to the wilting death. I have drawn versions of the life stages of a flower, whether abstracted or realistic, these stages are important pieces of my work. The textures of the flowers are also particularly important pieces of my drawings and paintings. I love to experiment with different textures and I utilize many different mediums. This started very early as a child, I would use paints, markers, crayons and colored pencils in every artwork I did. Not only have my paintings and drawing had a feeling of texture, but when I looked at them, I visually saw the rough, soft, smooth, and hard textures as well. The textures and designs that I have created have a vast amount of detail in them that I have the tendency to obsess over.
