Jacqui began work as a musician, but when her first born son cried every time she played the violin she made the move to the visual arts. Since then she has worked extensively as an artist, participating in a number of exhibitions over the past. She has been a finalist in a number of exhibitions, some including the • Certificate of Excellence American Society Portrait artists • Black Swan Portrait Prize, • Portia Geach Prize, • Black Swan Heritage Prize, • Semi-finalist Arte Laguna Prize • Winner Surrealism section Mortimore Art Prize • Finalist Waverley Art Prize • Finalist Cricket Art Prize She is a well-known artist, children’s’ author/book illustrator and educator, with over 14 published books. Books that she has both written and illustrated include: ‘Various Faerious’ (2002), ‘Shoes News’ (2004) and ‘Simply Drawing’ (2010) a book and DVD demonstrating drawing techniques. She also volunteers as a radio broadcasting on 3MBS fm, a Classical music station based in Melbourne. She currently does regular gallery reviews and interviews on the program Arts Beat which airs every Saturday between 10 and 11.
