Photography – Portland

Movement, life, beauty, and shape realized. This is my aim in lifting my lens. Using photography as means of painting, both the real and the unconscious. Photography has long been based in reality, which provides it with a unique meaning. My work plays on reality by capturing the most mundane objects in beautiful compositions, revealing the human spirit that lies behind everything. I believe in the reality of life, but more so, I believe that most people wander blind to the beauty of everyday shapes. Therefore, my work focuses on photographing all types of subjects, but all with the same perspective. All is life, all is shape, all is a composition created from real objects being imagined in my mind. I photograph the world, so that it may see itself. Each object, each face, each piece of nature invades my senses and drives me to capture it for others, if only in a photograph, so that I may share one small piece of the beauty and tragedy that lies around us. My work incorporates classic styles of art theory with modern techniques. I shoot on a variety of formats and cameras, utilizing each for its own special qualities.
