Joe Jameson

Performing Art – San Antonio

I am a choreographer and dancer! Originally from Knoxville, TN, I know live in Texas. I found dance through color guard and went on to study choreography and human anatomy. My work is usually political in nature and always has roots in jazz. My dance journey started when my mother bought me a DVD of A Chorus Line when I was in middle school and I made it my life goal to dance like Bebe Benson. As I have molded my career, I have found a huge inspiration in the growth of feminism. The breaking of gender roles fascinates me. Men dancing in heels and women showing authority and power stands as the basis of most of my new work. Beyond commercial dance style that utilizes similar concepts, my theatre and modern training brings a new and unique spin that I am excited to share with audiences everywhere. In short, I share a special blend of concert style theatricality and west coast street jazz that I am very passionate about. My work has been shown in the Cincinnati fringe festival twice, at Texas State University, Northern Kentucky University, Pones Inc Dance Company from Cincinnati, and the Raw Arts festival in San Antonio, TX among other places. I am also currently a choreographer for ONYX world class winter guard out of Dayton Ohio.
