JROSE Textile Arts

Visual Art – Nashville

JRose is the work of textile artist and designer Jessica Hagar. Every piece is handmade with an emphasis on fine American craftsmanship. Jessica Rose Hagar grew up in the town of McMinnville, Tennessee. Known for its beautiful national park and nurseries, McMinnville allowed Jessica to develop a love for the natural world. She found a love for art through community art programs, and began her college career at Tennessee Technological University desiring to teach art on a professional level. She soon realized how much she enjoyed working in the fibers studio at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville,TN. In 2015 She made her first debut as an artist with her BFA Thesis Exhibition show titled Moments of Clarity. She has been nationally nominated for a NICHE Award three years running for her work in textiles. She was awarded a Juror’s Choice Award at Tennessee Tech’s Annual Juried Student Show Exhibition and was awarded 3rd place during the Spotlight on Student Fiber Trends Exhibition at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. In the summer of 2014, Jessica lived in New York City and had the opportunity to work as an intern for Mandy Kordal of KORDAL Knitwear. She continues to work as an artist and as a teacher. She is always searching for ways to be involved in the local artist community and to encourage others to appreciate the sustainable arts and crafts movement.
