Visual Art – Connecticut

I grew up in central CT, but I\'ve also lived in Pennsylvania, Boston, and New Hampshire. I went to school for History/Philosophy because I wanted to help change American politics. It seems, playing with paints is certainly not the expected result of years spent filling my head with the words of J.S. Mill, Jefferson, and the philosophy of law. However, through art (and writing) I can really communicate what I see and how I feel. I chose to pursue art because art doesn\'t demand anything from anyone, but it invites you to appreciate it if you like. People can look at my art and they can get where I\'m coming from and dig it, or maybe it doesn\'t connect with them and they forget about it. Both situations are neither good nor bad, but it is that option, that freedom to let the audience decide for themselves, that makes art so powerful. The artist is not in control of this power, but is subject to it. I chose art because I don\'t want to control anyone. I want to be a vehicle for something new. I still believe in a realistic, better world, that is within reach. I believe in seeing beauty in the world as it is. I want my paintings to tell stories, and draw people in, let them see that they are part of the art.
