In Contrast Photography (Jose Chavira)

Photography – Raleigh

My name is Jose Chavira and I recently graduated from NCSU with a Masters in Nonprofit Agricultural Development. I hope to develop my gallery into a community-building tool linking local arts to local agriculture through educational programs for young people. It\'s my dream! Despite this background, people say I am an artist... My photography is my proverbial rabbit hole taking the viewer to different perspective. I think of my photography as bits and pieces of my memories, thoughts, whimsical notions, and testaments to the beauty I witness in the world every day. I don’t set out to produce art about one subject or another but instead try to capture beauty in every circumstance I encounter. At times, this beauty is breathtaking and at other times it is sad. But most importantly of all, it is raw and real. My goal is to capture beautiful moments wherever I might find myself, bring them back and expose others to the experience. I shoot photos based on instinct and emotion. Every photo that I take is attached to an emotion; sometimes intense and sometimes mundane. Though I work quite deliberately, consciously attempting to manipulate light and shadow, my subconscious is the undisputed project manager. When you look at my photos you are really getting an idea of what runs through my head. So take a quick voyage through my mind.
