Marie Blandin

Visual Art – London

Marie Blandin, born in France and raised in London graduated last year from Wimbledon College of Art London (UAL). Due to her lack of hearing, she has always been interested in investigating the various ways of communication as well as the missing senses. Through a broad range of media, including installations, photography, sculpture and the use of everyday objects, she questions the accessibility of works of arts and the interaction between the work, the viewer and the art institution. She plays with language and signs to illustrate the difficulty to communicate and the accessibility of artwork and through her passive aggressive interaction she challenges the conventional rules and limits of social systems. She also adds en element of playfulness and humour to most of her works to lighten the mood and break some barriers to allow discussions on more serious subjects.
