Michael Bellotti

Visual Art – Minneapolis

Art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. The word “art” is defined in this way, and to an extent, this definition is correct, but in other ways this description is simply insufficient for Michael Bellotti. It’s true that for Michael, his art is a culmination of both skill and imagination. In fact, his artistic career began in just this way. Michael had never taken a formal art class and didn’t pick up a drawing pencil until 2004. When he did, he was pleasantly surprised by the skill that flowed so naturally onto paper. Using his imagination and passion for art as his guideposts, Michael quickly moved to oil painting less than a year later. Today, Michael is a self-taught colorist who uses his creative skill and imagination as the base for his philosophy that art can be used as a tool to heal those who are hurting. That is where the above definition is lacking; it does not encompass the aspect of art that is most important to Michael: its healing capabilities. As co-founder of the Adam Carter Foundation, he is constantly reminded of the strength and power that his art holds, and it is this that keeps him painting. www.mbellottifineart.com
