Paintings Shown Above: - The Munchies! - Weapons of Mass Prescription - Junk Food Pirate - Pharma Mouse - Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum's Excellent Adventure Tell us about yourself and how you first got started making art? I love to paint monsters and robots! I am an extremely passionate and ambitious individual that loves to make people laugh, and I would love to just share my love and art with the rest of the world. I am a firm believer in the concept of following your passion, because I honestly do believe that one's focus and energy into something you love, will manifest your dreams to come true. How it all began ... even though my journey into the Los Angeles art scene began only a year ago, I have been drawing ever since I was a child. Although, I took the more standard academic route in my education pursuing a History degree at UCLA in hopes of pleasing my parents to become a future lawyer, my last quarter at UCLA I decided to pursue something for myself. I began to work on art on my own, which started it all. It was definitely something that was meant to be because doors began opening for me in the art world immediately! It was an incredible feeling being able to showcase my natural talent and have people appreciate my art. Now, I showcase and do live painting gigs all over Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Orange County! How would you describe your aesthetic? My work often reflects the satirical truths of life and I usually paint monster and robot characters that are cute, colorful, and dark at the same time. From where do you draw inspiration for your work? I draw a lot of inspiration for my art work through our society. I often like to use political, philosophical, and psychological metaphors through my paintings to reflect the themes of our modern life. *Check out blog and more of my artwork on Flickr!* - http://www.michekke.blogspot.com/ -http://www.flickr.com/photos/michekke/ Involvement with RAW: - Art Showcase: "Your Fix" @ Hotel Maya, Long Beach September 30, 2010 - Live Painting: RAWards 2010 @ Music Box, Hollywood December 17, 2010 - Awards: Nominated for Visual Artist of the Year 2010 @ RAWards 2010, Hollywood - Art Showcase:"Catalyst" @ Elevate Lounge, Downtown Los Angeles February 10, 2011
