Visual Art – San Antonio

Rebecca is proud of her culture and being part of the Latino community. She uses her rich culture to bring energy from her soul through her art. She calls herself a Texan (proudly born & raised) but her soul echos from New Mexico where the majority of her family developed. In her own words, “It’s already living in my blood.” She comes from a very creative family with careers in various capacities from music, art, jewelry/craft-making, writing, designing, photography, etc. Her mother started at UNM as an artist, her uncle Santiago Chavez, is an artist currently living near Lake Tahoe. In Middle School, Rebecca took art classes from a local artist (Ms. Donaho). She was accepted into the Advanced Placement (AP) Art Program in High School and won AP Art Student of the Year during her Senior Year at Floresville High School. She attended college at the University of Texas at San Antonio and took a break from art to focus on a degree in Marketing. Now, during the day Rebecca is a Proposal Specialist/Graphic Designer at an engineering firm in San Antonio, TX. By night and weekends, she creates and explores her passion. Her uncle and artist, Santiago Chavez, inspired her to pursue her passion a few years into her Marketing career. She said, “He was thrilled to see my new work and made a point to tell me that it’s worth pursuing and evolving into my life. My soul then became a magnet to visual and musical inspirations; it started to crave and my canvas seemed ready. It was an opportune combination. When an artist tells you that you have the potential, it spotlights the things you casually put into the corner that you never thought possible.”
