A California kid who grew up in Stockton, near Sacramento, Russell liked to sketch as a child, but didn’t take art seriously until he was in his late 20’s. He explains, “I started seeing paintings in my head, and it took my interest in art to another level. I had to pick my brush so i could get my ideas on canvas. Then I started playing with different techniques to broaden my horizons even more.” Almost immediately, he had friends and associates interested in his art.” “I wasn’t interested in anything I was doing other than painting, and I loved the wide-openness of my life.”
