Sarah Dolezal (a.k.a. Gears on Acid)

Visual Art – Indianapolis

I\'m curious about everything. I have a compulsion to love deeply and find meaning in everything. This is what I feel is most reflected in my work. I work in many mediums including found-object builds, drawings, paintings, photography, and writing. I\'m also a compulsive gatherer of things forgotten or left behind. I have stashes everywhere in my house. My favorite and most prominent work is in my found-object creations. I just don\'t want anything to have to spend eternity forgotten. I have been a wanderer. On my wanders I have found everything from rusty nuts and bolts to skeletal remains of long dead animals. When I look through windows they are usually into decaying old buildings that have been shot down for years. Watch parts and broken junk, lost earrings and random motor parts... I take it all and turn it into new things that are hard not to love. That means a lot to me. I love to see all of these small forgotten little things get so much attention. I love to present them so people can see what I see in them. Letting them go is a happy heart ache.
