I have been a dancer since age 2. As it turns out dance class is cheaper then daycare. Fast forward 13 years later: I am playing the female Chinese character in the Nutcracker as well as the Rat. I love my contemporary ballet company and am quickly moving up.
Until… I get injured and I am forced leave the company. After leaving the company, my parents divorce. A friend dies. I’m going down the rabbit hole. Until…my best friend buys some sharpies. And Shelby the artist is born!
Doing art helps me claim and create my space. By actively creating and contributing to my environment I have created a safe place to explore my body, emotions, and new ideas. I have found my style, and my ROAR!
