The Big Muddy Dance Company

Performing Art – St. Louis

Their performances will touch your soul and leave you wanting more through an eclectic repertoire of jazz, Broadway, and contemporary styles of movement. The dancers will entertain and challenge you with their technique, athleticism and individual personalities. The Big Muddy Dance Company is located in the historic Truman building of the Old Post Office District. The studio, Downtown Dance Center, is just blocks away from the Gateway Arch, the City Garden, Busch Stadium, and more. The company is proud to be in the heart of downtown St Louis. St. Louis has a rich history in jazz that dates back to the inception of the art form in the early part of the 20th century. These roots are deep. From this heritage comes The Big Muddy Dance Company. The Company derives its name from the Missouri River, referred to as “The Big Muddy,” which feeds the nation’s waterways, while having its roots in St. Louis. We now have a dance company rooted here in St. Louis that will honor the city’s rich and diverse jazz history. A company St. Louis will be proud to call its own! The company is lead by Artistic Director Paula David, former dancer for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, who is committed to sharing her expertise with a collaboration of artists from St. Louis and around the country, to create and maintain this exciting new company. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScafSB6IMIM
