Lilly Penhall

Performing Art – San Diego

Lilly Penhall’s poetry can be described as sensual, symbolic, edgy and raw, and has been compared to Emily Dickinson, Sandra Cisneros and Dorothy Parker. Lilly has a BA in English Composition and Rhetoric from University of North Texas, and has been pursuing writing since 1999, only interrupted by a short period of writer’s block called marriage. Her chapbook, O, was published in 2010 through Death List Five, and she was the co-editor of Let It Bleed, a femme zine. She was actively involved in open mic events in the Dallas area and, through her graphic and web design company InterStellar Graphics, created print and web graphics for Lost Art Open Mic at Bill’s Records and Poets on X+ in Oak Cliff, both in Dallas. She has been published in Forces Literary Magazine, Mad Swirl, The Beatest State in the Union: An Anthology of Beat Texas Writers (Slough Press), Every Reason ‘Zine and is featured on the Live @ Lost Art Open Mic CD. Recently, unemployment caused her to relocate to San Diego, where she is pursuing writing and performing.
