Tess Murdoch

I am interested in visually expressing the natural dualities that occur in daily life. The theme of contrast and contradiction is one I tend to gravitate towards and explore. I like to play with what is control and what is chaos and how to bend the relationships between both. I tend to use varied media from etchings to oil paint, to collage and sculpture. I find art to be very therapeutic and have spent some time interning as an art therapist. Sometimes those who are unable to vocalize their thoughts and feelings with words find art to be the best medium to communicate through. I want to continue to explore that kind of healing. Ultimately, I am inspired by the cycle occurring between life, death, and rebirth. With many of my pieces, I hope to expose a facet of my insight into being a tiny part of this infinitely beautiful and mysterious cycle.
